FELIX
Taken to his essence, Felix combines simplistic design and playfulness to become a cozy tabletop accessory. Although simple in form and materiality, Felix has character and warmth which is engaging for a wide variety of users. He is meant as a centerpiece that can be given as a gift to someone you love to add warmth and energy to a space.
materials – brass, white oak, walnut
process – laminating white oak to the walnut, CNC cut wood, laminating brass, oiling wood with tung oil, laminating wood to brass

While the CNC was going through the tool pathing, the system glitched and plunged the bit into Felix and sliced through it. Bumps in the road are always a possibility, and after cutting, laminating, and regenerating the tool path, Felix was back to normal. This proved to be a big learning moment for me in terms of quick problem solving and keeping a steady mind while fixing issues.
